The European Trustworthy AI foundation
The European Trustworthy AI Foundation is a non-profit organization established by industrial leaders, building on the legacy of the Confiance.ai programme. It is on a mission to empower the industry with state of the art, open-source methodology and tools, enabling the engineering of AI-based systems that can be trusted and comply with regulations.
The foundation aims to be a driving force behind an ambitious European strategy for industrial and responsible AI. Its ambition is to propel Europe to the forefront of innovation in trustworthy AI, by making its methodologies and tools an international benchmark and thus, supporting the broader adoption of responsible AI in industy.
Who is the foundation for ?
- The foundation is aimed at all players committed to the development and adoption of industrial and responsible AI:
Industrialists: any company wishing to integrate trustworthy AI solutions into their systems, and needing to comply with current regulations relating to their sector of activity - Researchers and laboratories: academic institutions and research centers contributing to scientific advances in AI
- Start-ups and technology SMEs: innovative young companies developing technologies or services linked to trustworthy AI.
- Standards bodies and regulators: entities involved in drawing up standards and regulatory frameworks.
By joining the foundation, these players gain access to a privileged network to collaborate, innovate and actively contribute to shaping the future of industrial AI in Europe.

The Foundation ensures that methodologies and tools comply with the AI Act and other regulations. It plays an active role in defining standards and labeling processes, placing trust at the heart of future regulations.
Managing and distributing open source assets resulting from the Confiance.ai program
The foundation is responsible for the management, development and distribution of the open source methodological and technological assets developed. It offers industrialists a range of courses adapted to each type of use, to facilitate the appropriation and industrialization of these tools.
Supporting the transition to responsible AI
It supports digital transformation by co-designing training courses for new professions and helping to build the skills of future trustworthy AI experts.
