“The strength of the Confiance.ai program lies in the exploitation of industrial use cases. This enables us to propose solutions applicable to different business issues and to respond to future regulatory frameworks.”

By contributing to the Confiance.ai program, Safran has significantly improved the reliability and efficiency of its industrial processes, while strengthening regulatory compliance and developing trusted AI solutions. These advances strengthen the company’s competitiveness and capacity for innovation in the aerospace and defense sectors.

AI adoption challenges specific to Safran

Safran uses AI in critical functions for aerospace and defense products. AI is also used in engineering, production and service processes related to aeronautical regulations.

Products and services affected by the Confiance.ai program

Industrial process monitoring, quality control assistance for industrial parts, and maintenance and services related to Safran equipment and systems have all been impacted. This also applies to onboard functions, autonomous land and air vehicles, both civil and military, and the engineering of complex mission-critical systems.

Confiance.ai’s contribution to Safran’s strategy and challenges

Confiance.ai’s contribution made it possible to guarantee the reliability of results, identify and control risks, and ensure compliance with future regulations. There was also support for AI acceptance by business lines and internal customers. Ultimately, Safran plans to build trust in AI functions with Safran customers and the authorities.

Competitive advantages developed with Confiance.ai

Participation in Confiance.ai has enabled Safran to enhance the skills of its teams, create tool-based methods for the development of trusted AI, and benefit from a partnership dynamic that facilitates interaction with the authorities. This has given Safran a competitive edge over non-participating players.

Challenges and conditions for success for the next phase of the Confiance.ai program

For Safran, it is important to continue the program in order to maintain the industrial and academic momentum on the subject, while benefiting from a significant leverage effect. To date, only some of the AI issues and technologies have been addressed.

Example of current or future implementation/deployment

Safran has used components from Confiance.ai to develop AI for use cases in industrial parts inspection and critical system failure detection. Safran is continuing to evaluate the components on other cases representative of future applications.

Accelerating AI Act compliance with the Confiance.ai program

Confiance.ai has enabled Safran to increase its expertise, master the state of the art in science, develop methods and tools, define internal processes and benefit from privileged interactions with the authorities.
